OnePlus launched its OnePlus 8 series smartphones in India a few months back with a flagship Snapdragon 865 processor with 5G support starting at 41,999 INR.
- The OnePlus 8 was priced INR 41,999 for the base variant at the launch time and comes with a 6.55” (16.637cm) 90Hz fluid AMOLED display.
- The OnePlus 8 Pro was priced INR 54,999 for the base variant at the launch time and comes with a 6.78” (17.22cm) QHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
- The main competitors for OnePlus 8 are Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite, Realme X50 Pro, Asus Rog Phone 3, and the brand’s own OnePlus 7 Pro.
- OnePlus 8 Pro competes with Xiaomi Mi 10, iPhone XR, Samsung Galaxy S10, and the brand’s own OnePlus 7T Pro.
Features & Specifications
OnePlus 8
- The OnePlus 8 comes with Oxygen OS on top of Android 10. It features a 6.55” fluid AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate with an aspect ratio of 20:9 and a punch-hole design for the front camera.
- The display features a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 with support for HDR10+. Even the back panel of this device is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
- The device comes with dual nano sim support and is equipped with Qualcomm’s latest 7nm processor Qualcomm SM8250 Snapdragon 865 and Adreno 650 GPU. This device does not feature a 3.5mm audio jack.
- The triple rear camera setup is equipped with a 48MP main camera with an F1.75 aperture, 16MP ultra wide lens with an F2.2 aperture with a 116° field of view and a 2MP macro lens with an F2.4 aperture for macro shots. The front camera comes equipped with a Sony IMX471 16MP wide lens with an F2.45 aperture.
- The mobile supports 4K at 30/60fps, 1080p at 30/60/240fps, 720p at 480fps with the rear camera, and 1080p at 30fps with the front camera. The rear camera comes with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and the front camera comes with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS).
- The device is NFC enabled. The sensors present in the device are In-display Fingerprint Sensor, Accelerometer, Electronic Compass, Gyroscope, Ambient Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, and Sensor Core.
- The OnePlus 8 comes with a 4300mAh Li-Po non-removable battery and supports warp charge 30T fast charging.
- OnePlus 8 comes in three different colors; Glacial Green, Interstellar Glow, and Onyx Black. It’s 8mm thin which makes the device stunning to look at, and weighs 180g.
OnePlus 8 Pro
- OnePlus 8 Pro comes with Android 10 and Oxygen OS on top. It features a slightly bigger display than OnePlus 8. The device comes with 6.78” (17.22cm) QHD+ fluid AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and with an aspect ratio of 20:9.
- The front glass and back panel sports a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 with support to HDR10+. The device is rated A+ by DisplayMate.
- The device comes with dual nano sim support and comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor and does not feature a 3.5mm audio jack, the same as OnePlus 8.
- The major changes differentiating the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro are the cameras, extra sensors in the OnePlus 8 Pro, Battery, and the support for wireless charging which is not present in the OnePlus 8.
- The Quad camera setup on the rear is equipped with a Sony IMX689 48MP main camera with OIS and EIS with an F1.78 aperture, a Sony IMX586 48MP ultra wide-angle camera with 120° field of view and an F2.2 aperture, 8MP hybrid zoom camera which supports 30x digital zoom and comes with OIS, and a 5MP color filter camera. The front camera and video support are the same as the OnePlus 8.
- The device is NFC enabled and the sensors onboard are In-display Fingerprint Sensor, Accelerometer, Electronic Compass, Gyroscope, Ambient Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Sensor Core, Laser Sensor, Flicker-detect sensor, and Front RGB sensor.
- The OnePlus 8 Pro comes with a 4510mAh Li-Po non-removable battery and supports warp charge 30T fast charging. This device also supports 30W wireless warp charging which can charge the device from 1% to 50% in half an hour as claimed by OnePlus.
- OnePlus 8 Pro comes in three different colors; Glacier Green, Ultramarine Blue, and Onyx Black. The device is 8mm thin and weighs 199g.

- OnePlus 8 is available in three variants. The 6GB/128GB base variant is priced at 41,999 INR and is only available in Glacier Green. The 8GB/128GB variant is priced at 44,999 INR and is available in Glacier Green and Onyx Black. The 12GB/256GB high-end variant is priced at 49,999 INR and is available in Glacier Green, Onyx Black and Interstellar Glow.
- The 6GB/128GB variant is available for purchase only from Amazon India. The 8GB/128GB and 12GB/256GB variants are available for purchase from OnePlus.in and Amazon India.

- OnePlus 8 Pro is available in two variants. The 8GB/128GB variant is priced at 54,999 INR and is available in Onyx Black and Glacier Green. The 12GB/256GB variant is priced at 59,999 INR and is available in Onyx Black, Glacier Green and Ultramarine Blue.
- The both variants are available to purchase from OnePlus.in and Amazon India.
